On 1 June 2017, REACH organized an International Children's Day celebration in REACH's in community centers in Bazyan, Baynjan and Rapareen districts of Sulaimaniya. The participants were Syrian, IDP and host community children, who are regular beneficiaries of our child protection and psychosocial support activities.
During the celebration, children were entertained by fun activities including a musical concert, role play games, an art exhibition, a fashion and costume show, as well as fun games, competitions and face painting.
Perhaps the most meaningful moment of the day came when the children wrote their hopes and wishes on the pieces small pieces of paper, which were then put inside balloons and launched it into the sky. Later, the children had an opportunty to share what they wrote. Many of the children spoke of their dreams of wanting a future that was safe and filled with family and friends. They shared their hopes of being able to study and getting good jobs, as well as hoping that all the people they loved would be healthy and happy in their lives.
