In April 2018, REACH, supported by Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe, conducted awareness training sessions focused on a variety of needed topics; Gender Based violence (GBV), Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and Child Protection (CP) in the Ninawa Governorate. This location was choosen as it represents one of the most heavily impacted by the ISIL conflict and as a way to mitigate the negative psychological effects of the violence and unrest they have experienced.
These psychosocial support training sessions were previously implemented with more than 5200 persons in Mosul, Talkaif and Hamdaniya districts. Building on this experience, the model was successfully implemented in Ninawa Governate with similar positive benefits reported.
